I just got a hand-me-down western saddle pad but it has a hole in it. It is really thick so I cant use a sewing machine and a needle wont go through it. How do I sew it?

Even sewing by hand a needle wont go through.
Another note on the industrial sewing machine thing, if you can find a saddler, the kind that fix saddles rather than sell them they almost certainly have one and I imagine would sew it up for you. Your best bet is probably patching it though as otherwise I can see it bunching up. My mind is wandering towards cute patchwork saddle pads now
